American Lamb Board Announces Winners of StarChefs Ground Lamb Recipe Contest
|
The American Lamb Board recently partnered with StarChefs on a chef recipe contest. Chefs from across the country were invited to share their favorite recipes using ground American Lamb. The grand-prize winner in the contest is Chef César Murillo of North Pond in Chicago, who turned ground American lamb into a savory pop tart with ground American Lamb, turmeric, blackberry-chile jam, aged cheddar, and charred ramps. “I have been wanting to do something with Moroccan flavors for a while and this seemed like a great way to show off those flavors in a familiar yet unfamiliar way. The turmeric, pistachio, Moroccan spices pair so well with the American Lamb and we drizzle the blackberry chile jam over that tart like you would drizzle the frosting on the pop tarts you grew up eating as a kid,” said Chef Murillo in his recipe submission. “It can be a brunch or lunch dish, or make for a great appetizer for dinner.”“Congratulations to these amazing chefs for their innovative dishes with American Lamb,” said Megan Wortman of the American Lamb Board. “And thanks to the hundreds of chefs who expressed interest in the ground lamb recipe contest by filling out the application form and especially to chef finalists who submitted recipes. We were wowed by the enthusiasm.”
